President Uhuru Kenyatta Condolence To Somalia
Excellency and Dear Brother,
I have learnt with the deepest shock and great sorrow of the tragic loss of 250 lives on 14th October 2017, following a horrific terror attack, in Zobe District, southern Mogadishu.
All Kenyans join me in conveying to you, Excellency and dearest brother and through you, to the resilient, patriotic people of Somalia, my deepest and most heartfelt condolences, following this horrendous attack on our brothers and sisters in Mogadishu.
The calculated intensity of this beastly attack, obviously intended to
cause the most harmful physical, psychological and emotional damage,
could only be aimed at one dastardly bigger goal – to strike fear and
despondency in the hearts of the Somali people, thereby derailing them
from the path of unity and progress which they have so gallantly chosen
since your historic election in February 2017.
Since then, it has been clear that the terrorists have felt frightened and threatened by the new-found resolve of the Somali people to bury their political and clan differences and converge around the patriotic duty of re-building a stronger Somalia. However, the evil people who planned and executed this heinous crime do not understand, clearly, the pride, strength and determination of the people of Somalia to overcome tragedies and emerge even stronger and more determined. With Allah’s Will, Somalia shall overcome this one too!
As we join you in this trying moment, we pray that the Almighty Allah will grant the bereaved families and the people of the Federal Republic of Somalia, the strength and courage to overcome this great loss. We also pray for the quick recovery of the injured.
I wish to reassure Your Excellency that Kenya shall stand shoulder-to-shoulder with your Government and the people of Somalia in the fight against terrorism., including identifying and shutting off the evil taps of terror financing, that continue to fuel this scourge in our midst.
I am confident that, together, we shall overcome these negative forces and defeat their wicked ideologies.
While conveying to Your Excellency the deepest sympathy and solidarity of the people of Kenya during this difficult moment of distress and national grief, humbly Accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest and most distinguished consideration.
